Negima Volume 1
I have just finished reading Negima Volume one and I thought it was a great manga, defintetely one for the favourites! I loved reading it!
Negi Springfield has just graduated from Magi-School, and his next assignment if he wishes to become a Magister, is to teach English at an all girls boarding school in Japan! Being only 10 years old, the girls coo over him and treat him not as a teacher, but as a puppy, and are non-stop teasing him and cuddling him. Negi accidently messes up Asuna’s (a student there) life so, he tries using magic to make it better. But, amazingly, it fails every time! Negi isn’t allowed to let the girls know about his powers, or he’ll be turned into a hamster by his Magic teacher. After messing Asuna’s life up, when Asuna finds out that Negi is a Magi-In-Training, she could tell everyone and anyone she wanted!
I loved Negima! The art is great, and the story flows well! The translation is very good and doesn’t leave out crucial bits! I think this is one of my favourite mangas, so I bought the anime DVD too! It was very expensive though. I am going to buy Negima volume 2 soon, and will be posting a review when I finish that!

The Lottery (unfinished!) by Beth Goobie
I am still reading The Lottery, and it’s very good, but I haven’t finished it yet… so… yeah. This review is my opinion BEFORE finishing the book.
I am actually enjoying it! It’s really interesting. It’s about this girl that goes to this American High School that is secretly governed by this evil team of students called the Shadow Council. Everyone in the school fears them; they can turn everyone and anyone against you. Once a year, they write the name of every student on some paper, and pick one name out of a coffin. This unfortunate person will be Shadow Council’s slave for a year. None of their friends will speak to them and nobody will even look at them.
Creepy, amirite? And the one girl who this story is about gets picked out of the coffin, and it’s about how she uncovers SC’s secret… or that’s what it says on the blurb. So far I’ve read up to the bit where she is entering the Shadow Council “den”. I think the author, Beth Goobie, is really good at describing what the girl (who I can’t remember the name of xD) is going through, and it makes you feel a bit scared too. I will see if the rest of the book is any good, but the beginning is very entertaining, and I hope the rest is of consistent quality!
